Groundwork + Show Time
Looking to get more out of your food plots this fall? Combining our premium food plot blends together can be just the ticket. Groundwork and Show Time are a premier combination when it comes to getting more out of your food plot in terms of attraction, forage, longevity and makes the ultimate kill plot!

How it works
Groundwork was built to not only provide perennial attraction, but also to help act as a cover crop for our premium perennial blends such as Show Time. The oats, radish, and triticale in Groundwork will grow rapidly providing instant forage for your deer herd meanwhile allowing for the perennial species in Show Time and in Groundwork to establish their root systems for improved longevity. As the deer eat out the triticale, oats, and radish the clover species, alfalfa, chicory, small burnet, and plantain will be made available shortly thereafter. The following spring the food plot will transition into a full-fledged perennial providing unmatchable forage and attraction. From there you will be able to frost seed and overseed the food plot with either of our perennial blends. (Show Time or Own the Season)

Where to Plant
The combination of Groundwork and Show Time can be planted on logging roads, transition food plots, interior timber kill plots, or as your main food plot. Both Groundwork and Show Time are shade tolerant which allows for limitless locations to plant the combination.

When to Plant
When planting the combination of Groundwork and Show Time you can plant it Spring, Summer, or Fall. If planting in a shaded area we recommend planting this combination in the springtime before the canopy develops. If planting for ultimate fall attraction, we recommend planting this combination in July-August pending your location.

How to Plant
For areas that you are looking to plant Groundwork and Show Time together first prepare the area by eliminating the weeds that are present. Next you will want to scratch up the soil to allow for seed to soil contact. Once the dirt is prepped, spread the seed over your food plot area. To finish your planting, simply drag or rake the area to cover up the larger seed in Groundwork (oats and triticale).

SHOW TIME
Shade/Drought Tolerant Perennial Blend

If you are only going to plant one food plot, this is it! It grows where others won’t, is super long lasting and has double the antler-growing calcium of any clover plot on the market!

Show Time is our #1 selling food plot blend! Why? Because it is very shade and drought
tolerant and will, therefore, grow in less-than-ideal conditions where other food plots won’t!
Big bucks are harvested in transitional/kill plots, not big food plots and Show Time is the
ultimate kill plot blend. Show Time also provides your bucks with twice the antler-growing
calcium of any clover plot. Plant Show Time at field entrances, adjacent to tree stands or
anywhere you want that big buck to come. Show Time will also last a long time, especially if
you overseed.

  1. Chicory - Very drought tolerant; high in calcium for bigger antlers
  2. Plantain - Long-lasting perennial; hardy, drought tolerant; also a unique treat as no other blend has it
  3. Small Burnet - Drought tolerant, soil breaker, winter nutritious
  4. Alfalfa - High yield, high protein, high energy; digestible fiber

GROUNDWORK
Soil-Building/Weed-Suppressing Transition Blend

Plant this before your perennial or fall plots; aerates soil, adds nitrogen; also a great "throw-and-grow" blend

This hybrid annual/perennial food plot blend is very unique and extremely versatile. We call it the first “transitional” food plot blend because it lays the “groundwork” for a more robust fall food plot. Here’s how: plant Groundwork in the spring as a cover crop that adds nitrogen to your soil, aerates your soil, puts enzymes into the soil to kill weeds and also reduces erosion. Then, rotate in late summer to Wicked Greenz, Checkmate or Tombstone. Alternatively, you can also plant Groundwork in late summer/early fall as a stand-alone throw-and-grow blend.

  1. Spring Triticale - drought tolerant, highly digestible, high protein; soil builder: captures nitrogen, reduces erosion, puts weed-suppressing enzymes into soil (allelopathy)
  2. Forage Oats - Deer/turkeys love it; soft, palatable, easy to digest; graze resistant
  3. Radishes - Highly digestible leaves and bulbs; natural fertilizer, breaks up soil
  4. Chicory - High in calcium; highly shade and drought tolerant
  5. Ladino Clover - Long-lasting, high-protein perennial that deer love
  6. Crimson Clover - Protein-rich, browse-resistant biannual
  7. Balansa Fixation Clover - The most cold tolerant clover (down to -14°); biannual, deep tap roots help drain soil
